A compact platform. A specification built around you. It combines a permanent rear bed, equipment storage, fitted kitchen and living area, with a separate washroom available within the agreed layout.
Space and weight are considered together. Lightweight aluminium furniture helps control conversion weight and preserve payload for passengers, water, bikes and equipment. Battery capacity, tank sizes and exterior accessories are selected around your usage, with their weight and positioning considered as part of the complete build.
Your equipment sets the dimensions. Your travel plans shape the systems. We develop bed length, garage clearance, seating and storage together to make effective use of the MWB footprint. KALA provides the layout foundation. Your requirements determine the finished specification.
The shorter body offers a more manageable footprint for everyday driving, tighter roads and parking, while retaining the core facilities needed for extended travel.
The aim is to carry what you need within a carefully planned vehicle. We balance living space and equipment storage against usable payload, accounting for passengers, full water tanks and the kit you take on the road.
KALA Build Specification
Bespoke medium-wheelbase conversions for MAN TGE, VW Crafter and Mercedes-Benz Sprinter. Bed dimensions, garage clearance, travel seating and onboard systems are planned around the shorter footprint, with close attention to weight and usable space. The components below show the systems we offer; your final configuration is confirmed during design.
Construction & Interior

Furniture: bespoke lightweight aluminium cabinetry and overhead storage, with secure travel catches and soft-close drawer mechanisms.

Insulation: acoustic dampening and thermal insulation to habitation walls, doors and ceiling, with additional cab insulation available.

Interior finishes: automotive Alcantara wall lining, custom-cut SurfDek ceiling panels and LVT habitation flooring.

Glazing: opening safari windows, rooflights and vehicle-specific side pods to increase transverse sleeping width, with window and blackout-blind options.
Bed, Seating & Upholstery

Bed configuration: raised transverse platform bed with equipment storage beneath, or a convertible rear lounge developed around the agreed layout.

Sleep system: custom-sized memory-foam mattress with modular sprung support beneath.

Travel seating: approved two-person rear seat with integrated three-point belts and structural floor reinforcement, where specified in the layout.

Lounge: vehicle-specific cab swivels, single- or dual-leaf tables and custom leather upholstery for cab and rear seating.
Kitchen & Appliances

Cabinetry: bespoke aluminium kitchen units with fitted worktop and splashback, sized to balance preparation space, storage and aisle clearance.

Cooking: built-in twin induction hob with dedicated protected mains supply.

Refrigeration: Dometic 70L under-counter fridge-freezer, with alternative capacities and configurations selected during design.

Worktop & appliances: slide-out preparation surfaces, external fold-down tables and integrated Dometic three-in-one microwave, air fryer and grill options.

Plumbing: fitted stainless-steel sink, waste and tap, with black hardware and water-filtration options.
Electrical System & Control

12V architecture: 300Ah lithium battery system with 3,000W inverter, Victron charging equipment, monitoring, isolation and protected distribution.

Battery capacity: 460Ah replacement or 600Ah total-capacity configurations, with compatible charging, cabling and circuit protection.

Charging: alternator charging, 300W roof solar with matched controller and shore-power connection. Additional solar is planned around available roof space.

Control & outlets: Garmin 10-inch touchscreen upgrade, dimmable LED lighting, removable reading lights, 13A sockets and USB-A/USB-C charging.

System sizing: battery, inverter and charging capacity matched to cooking, refrigeration, equipment charging and expected time between hookups.
Heating, Water & Bathroom

Heating & hot water: Truma Combi D4E diesel/electric system or Alde Compact 4000D hydronic system, with underfloor heating available for compatible Alde configurations.

Water system: fresh and grey water tanks, external quick-connect fill point and electrically operated tank-drain options.

Washroom: compact sealed wet-room enclosure with shower tray, tambour door and fitted shower hardware, where included in the layout.

Toilet & outdoor shower: OGO composting or Clesana C1 waterless sealing toilet options, plus an external hot and cold shower point.

Ventilation & winterisation: Maxxair roof ventilation, bathroom dome vent, tank insulation and heater pads with protected pipework.
Garage & Equipment Storage

Garage dimensions: bed height and storage clearance developed around bike dimensions, outdoor equipment and the space required inside the cabin.

Bike storage: fork-mount slide trays, fixed or removable bike mounts and dedicated charging outlets, configured to the available garage space.

Equipment retention: MOLLE panels, structurally mounted L-track rails and tie-down points.

Storage systems: pull-out equipment trays, dedicated electrical cupboards and bespoke storage for tools, clothing and specialist kit.
